Welcome to the S.O.S (Save our Scrapbooking) blog and challenges. It has been a very long time since I have had a blog, much less scrapbooked (not that that kept me from buying massive amounts of supplies, mind you ;) ), and I would be Molly Peckham, who use to be on a gazillion design teams and wanted to always be published, and, now, would just like to finish (or heck, start!) a scrapbook page just because I want to. Hence why I, and my other dear friends here, thought why not start a little challenge group with absolutely no stress involved, not working for any design teams (not that that is bad at all!), and kinda still give us the push we may need to just finish one layout and/or project a week.
Some may wonder where the heck did I go, or some of the others on here, and I will answer that simply with we just all kinda stopped. Whether it was life, too many moves, a sick relative, looking at our supplies and just wanting them gone, couldn't deal with the constant demand of always being the best, or what have you (I am not talking about anyone else on here, that was just mine, I promise!), we stopped scrapbooking. We didn't stop the friendships that we had, still encouraged our friends who were in the world of paper crafting, and started, at some point, to look at our supplies and just want to do something, anything, but could not put paper and glue together. It just didn't work, not so much like it use to, but so much to say I could sit in my room for hours and hours, put away things, but yet, could not, for the life of me, make one.single.thing. I wanted to, so badly, as I missed feeling the paper beneath my fingers, the smell of my ATG gun (yes, I know, I am beyond weird and geeky ;) ), and missed just having fun while creating.
So, a couple of days ago, I posted something on good ol' Facebook to see if I was the only one like this, this being someone who either use to work for a company (like CTMH, SU!, CM, etc), be on design teams, had tons of challenge blogs in the past, owned online/brick and mortar scrapbook stores, you know, people who were constantly having to create either for a deadline or for work. And holy wow. I wasn't alone...who knew??? I really did think that not many people would respond, but they did, and positively! It was people like me, who still need a 'deadline' of some sort or a challenge group where they are given specific requirements (nothing bad, I promise!) and still have plain fun while doing it.
Are we still going to mutter, crap, that doesn't look right, or move things on our layouts for hours on end until it's perfect? Sure, we may. But what is nice about this is we don't have to feel as though it needs to be perfect for someone else. It just needs to be our kind of perfect for us. And that is how this blog started, with a little challenge, about once a week, hopefully posted on Thursdays, but if not, then it won't be, it will eventually get up on the blog, as this is for fun. If any of you want to participate, please do, we would love that! I am hoping to put up something where you can link back to us from wherever you post your creation. If you don't, no worries, hopefully you are just enjoying reading the blog and what our challenge was that week.
So there you go, easy as that. I hope that you all have as much fun as we are going to have and we hope to see you all back here soon!
Molly
